Other venues

Lots of smaller venues - acoustic and intimate: churches, church halls, cafes, meeting rooms, upstairs at the pubs –very often the places to discover the stars of the future and meet up with old friends.

In the Sailing Club:

The Daily Folk Club, hosted by Avril Cameron – a different guest each day and lots of opportunities for floor singers and musicians.

The famous Tom and Barbara Brown Singaround – Come All Ye – every evening in a lovely location overlooking Viking Bay, 27 years and still going strong!

The Sailing Club also hosts lunchtime acoustic concerts– your chance to see guests in a very intimate setting, and Face the Music – a friendly question and answer session with the musicians you have come to see. Local eateries host a mix of small events where you can enjoy an intimate performance of poetry, music or song while enjoying a coffee and a croissant or tea and cakes!

Singarounds at the Neptune’s Hall:

Another institution that is at the core of the festival. Come and sing your heart out every lunch-time with your hosts Peter Collins and Mike Nicholson.

Playarounds at the Lord Nelson:

Paul Lucas leads the lunchtime playarounds in his inimitable laid back style.

The Woodshed Sessions at the Wrotham Arms:

Bob Kenward is your host for the afternoon sessions.  All welcome.

Playarounds and Open Mic at Ye Olde Crown:

Ye Olde Crown welcomes all musicians from noon till six – join in a session, or start one yourself.  From 7.30pm the evening sessions will be led by some of the Festival’s guests

The Jetty:

What could be a better location to host the annual “Songs from the Seas” concert with festival guests and a chorus of hundreds?

The Bandstand:

Traditional venue on the cliff overlooking beautiful Viking Bay. Renowned Hobby Horse Club with our irrepressible Hooden Horses and enormously popular Clarence the Dragon every morning with “taster” folk shows or dances afternoons and evenings. Refreshment/ice cream kiosk. Toilet facilities including disabled; adjacent to our mammoth Craft and Music Fair on Victoria Gardens selling a huge range of items from all over the world.

The Pubs, Wine Bars and Cafes:

Broadstairs is completely taken over and almost every pub hosts live music – lunchtimes and evenings. The town is alive and Folk Week keeps true to the spirit of the festival by booking folk, roots and world music – spot the future headliners here.
