Ian K Brown

~~Ian has sung, played guitar and performed from his teenage years. Formerly a Deputy  Headteacher but since 2007 has been an instrumental teacher for guitar, ukulele and singing in Northumberland and Cumbria. In addition to that he has a film company called Flashlight Films (http://www.flashlightfilms.co.uk ) which he runs with his son, Matthew.
Ian has two albums of his own songs, ‘Dancing with Shadows’ – produced by Rick Kemp (Steeleye Span’s bass man) in 2001 and ‘Rough Around the Edges’ – 2008, and is currently recording a third album with just voice and guitar.
He played regularly with Newcastle’s Tenth Avenue Band at festivals in England, Ireland and Germany until the summer of 2012 but since then has become a feature at many festivals playing as a solo performer and developing a reputation for his ukulele workshops.
In 2016 he played at Maddy Prior’s Stepping Stones festival (which he also helps to organise),  Nevfest, Mestival, Woolfest, The Mighty Dubfest, Music on the Marr, Corbridge festival, Redefest, Alnwick International Music festival , Baafest, the Lindisfarne Festival and the Allen Valleys festival  - and he is scheduled to be equally busy in 2017. At these festivals he has performed solo, led ukulele workshops and compered … often all three.
As a ‘Man of Kent’ he is looking forward to return to his home county for a third time at the wonderful Broadstairs Folk Week and having a lot of fun with ukuleles.
If you have a ukulele, bring it with you for the workshops and the ukulele performance which will be amazing.
