Led by acclaimed Algerian musician Abdelkader Saadoun, Takaleed (meaning “tradition”) is a dynamic North African band based in the UK. A master of Rai music, Saadoun blends traditional Algerian styles (Chaabi, Kabyle, Gnawa, Andalusian) with global genres including Flamenco, Jazz, Funk, Rock, and Blues. He is a composer, singer, and multi-instrumentalist (mandola, percussion, drums) with over 20 years’ experience as a performer and educator.
Takaleed has thrilled audiences at major festivals such as WOMAD, Africa Oye, Shambala, and London Mela, and featured in the film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny (2023). Saadoun has performed alongside legendary artists including Airto Moreira, Hossam Ramzy, Rabah Khalfa, and The Master Drummers of Africa, as well as for dignitaries such as Queen Elizabeth II and the Amir of Qatar.

With over 20 years of experience as a drum teacher, he has organized art and music events across the UK. Saadoun, alongside his band Takaleed, contributed to the 2023 film Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny and has performed for notable figures, including Queen Elizabeth II, the Amir of Qatar, and Madonna.
Saadoun has collaborated with renowned musicians such as Airto Moreira, Hossam Ramzy, Rabah Khalfa and The Master Drummers of Africa. He has also performed at major music festivals like Womad.
