Alice Mary Jelaska

Alice Mary Jelaska is a British-Croatian multi-instrumentalist musician & songwriter working with writers, dancers, folk artists, jazz bands and world music projects across London, UK and Europe. She has collaborated with artists from around the world, including Senegal, Congo, Argentina, Chile, Serbia, Turkey, Kurdistan and Iran.

An otherworldly singer, clarinettist & composer with an ethereal sound, her own songwriting draws on nostalgic influences from vintage jazz & folk – including Molly Drake, Violeta Parra, George Harrison & the Ink Spots.

As a workshop facilitator she has led & facilitated music workshops for Amnesty International, Goodchance Theatre, Play for Progress, Young Roots, Spitalfields Music, Olympias Music Foundation, Handel Hendrix House, Access All Areas, Le Tout Petit Festival Music (in Cevennes, France) – and at venues including V&A Museum, Royal Festival Hall and Queen Elizabeth Hall.

Workshops have included collective songwriting & recording, creating soundscapes, group singing, putting dance moves and words to music and creating stories with music. She also teaches skills such as piano, guitar, rhythm & group performing. Alice has over 15 years experience delivering workshops to all ages and to both small and large groups.
