Ewan Wardrop

Sweet Thames: The London Folk Club Story

Written and performed by Ewan Wardrop

Set in a London folk club in the early 1960s, this show draws on 26 oral history interviews, creating a fascinating tour de force performance from Ewan Wardrop. Ewan is an actor, dancer, multi-instrumentalist, and musical comedian. He began his career as a dancer for Matthew Bourne’s dance company, acted in productions for Shakespeare’s Globe, The RSC, The Old Vic, and Complicité, and is a member of The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. He step dances, plays banjo ukulele with The Servants Ball and created the Morris side, The Bo Diddlers.

“Ewan is such an extraordinary performer, able to call on such a range of his gifts as

singer, dancer, actor, deviser” Frankie Armstrong

“Ewan’s performance brought the words and characters and era to life in a moving, funny and real way – honouring the words, tone and expressions of all the different voices.”

Star Creative Heritage managed the project in partnership with EFDSS, the Vaughan Williams Memorial Library and London folk clubs.
