Jed Grimes

Singer/songwriter and guitarist Jed’s musical discoveries on Tyneside, helped reveal his own family roots along the way, via the Irish songs, jigs and reels reverberating from the family home of the late John Doonan and his sons Kevin and Mick. Jed soon joined with the Doonan boys, and acoustic bassist Phil Murray in Hedgehog Pie.

His first solo CD, Head On showcased arrangements of traditional and self-penned songs drawing critical acclaim.
Singer-guitarist-arranger with cajun/soul band Dust on The Needle, roots-rock band Pacamax (inc several members of Lindisfarne).
Writer/producer of TV theme music for TTTV, C4, BBC Manchester.
BBC Radio 2 Folk Award Nominee for his arrangements of trad. NE English folk songs and dance tunes with his 6-piece jazz-folk ensemble, THE HUSH.
2014-18 Creative Practitioner, Tynemouth WW1 Commemoration Project.
Studio producer on albums by The Hush, Kate Green, Northumbria Anthology. He’s also currently playing in a trio with Niles Krieger and Rupert Hughes.

Jed’s signature vocal style on songs from Ireland, Northumberland and Appalachia has many fans in Kent.
