Jo Hook

Jo Hook is a Kent-based songwriter and musician known for her quirky, intimate songs rooted in personal experience. With a style shaped by her early love of musicals, Jo’s performances are rich with humour, honesty, and lyrical wit. Her music blends poignant observations with playful mischief, drawing listeners in with emotional depth and melodic charm.

Across her career, Jo has collaborated widely, exploring various genres through live performance and recorded work. Her debut album Inside Out (2000) showcased her eclectic influences, followed by Settle Down (2005) with her folk-rock-indie band Hook. In 2013, she partnered with Geoffrey Richardson (Caravan, Penguin Café Orchestra) for Silence Surrounds Me, praised by For Folk’s Sake as “eleven tracks of lush folk-pop.”

Her latest album, Shiny Disposable Things, brings together a stellar cast of musicians and is considered her most personal work to date. Jo has performed at major UK festivals and continues to enchant audiences with her heartfelt and distinctive songwriting.
