Krista Griesche (Bubble)

Krista Griesche (Bubble) has been involved with Broadstairs Folk Week in some way for most of her life. She grew up attending The Hobby Horse Club hosted by Aunty Sonia & Uncle Peter and watching afternoon shows in the Pierremont Park Arena. This all inspired her to pick up a violin and start her journey to being a Fiddler.
As a teenager, Krista joined the Folk Week Work Force and even won the Collector’s prize that year. Before moving onto being an Artist in her own right the next year. For the next 30 years she has performed at the Festival with bands inc Moss, Phoenix with Davey Slater, The Bubbleband, Shedness, The Missouri Guts and in the last few years with The Ian Petrie Band, Raven’s Wedding as well as Calling for the now regular & beautiful Gentle Ceilidh that caters specifically for people with Dementia and their families. She is also the Captain of the now infamous Krista & The Pirates, who’s antics at The Wrotham Arms on the Saturday is now a regular event.
As a Broadstairs resident, a Mum and a working Folk Musician, Krista is passionate about the future of the festival and making music, dance & creativity inclusive and accessible to all. With all the involvement with the festival over the years and course of her musical career, It seemed a natural progression to join the Broadstairs Folk Week Committee to help make sure it’s there for future generations to inspire & support our future musicians, singers, dancers, callers & sound engineers.
