Strannik is a multi-instrumental and singing group specialising in traditional and contemporary Russian and British songs. As a multi-lingual group, Strannik also draws on the musical heritage of other countries from around the world.
Tatiana Soloviova (vocals, guitar, ukulele, piano) came to Oxford to write her PhD on British history in Lady Margaret Hall. However, it was music teaching that became her main occupation. As a musician she has conducted church choirs and performed in opera, oratorio and lieder concerts. She was a winner of the Oxford Music Festival and of the London International Russian Song Contest.
Jon Bennett (vocals, guitar, bouzouki, ukulele, whistles) has performed at festivals, arts centres and clubs in the UK for many years. He is a published songwriter and composer, has toured with his band Moonrakers and with professional storytellers.
Dominic Wilkinson (fiddle, whistles). A consummate musician, has played and performed with the Oxford Fiddle Group and Adelaide Scottish Fiddle group. He plays regularly in the transatlantic acoustic folk trio, the Mad Marston Hares. He also plays viola in the Isis Chamber Orchestra and the Osiris String quartet.
