Martin’s guitar playing has earned him a high level of respect and recognition. His solos were voted 25th best solo ever in the USA and 20th best solo ever in the UK for his playing on Aqualung. SUMMARY:Threepenny Bit Ceilidh (Caller John Brown)
DESCRIPTION:Hampshire-based Threepenny Bit use traditional dance music as the jumping-off point for their adventures in sound\, with the eight members’ patchwork of influences sewn into the lining of every tune. Their bold arrangements move between light and shade\, intimacy and bombast\, but always with compelling rhythm and harmony at the core. No idea is off limits as long as it catches the ear and animates the feet. Over the past decade\, this approach has led to regular appearances at folk festivals up and down the country\, including Cambridge\, Shrewsbury and Towersey. Annual concert and ceilidh performances at Purbeck Valley Folk Festival have also become a firm staple of the band’s year\, with their on-stage camaraderie ensuring memorable shows. The line-up of saxophone\, clarinet\, flute and violin\, alongside guitar\, accordion\, bass guitar and drums\, guarantees no gig will be short on sound\, rather\, the audience will be treated to an “all out musical bombardment!” \nCaller John Brown.  Get ready to dance the night away with the unmistakable energy of John Brown\, one of the most dynamic ceilidh callers on the folk scene today. With a voice that cuts through the liveliest fiddle tunes and a knack for getting even the most reluctant dancers on their feet\, John brings infectious joy and clarity to every set. Whether you’re a seasoned ceilidh-goer or stepping into the dance for the first time\, John’s warm wit\, inclusive style\, and spot-on timing guarantee an unforgettable experience. Grab a partner or find one on the dance floor—and let John lead you through reels\, jigs\, and joyous mayhem! \n  \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Edith We-Utonga (supported by Ajay Srivistav)
DESCRIPTION:Edith We-Utonga  \nOne of just a few nominees for the 2025 Folk Album of the Year award with her latest album Varipasi\, Edith WeUtonga is a ground breaking bassist\, vocalist and songwriter leading her Utonga band. Playing an authentically Zimbabwean sound laced with Jiti\, Chimurenga and Shona folk she experiments with some of her favourite World music flavours such as Rhumba\, Reggae Calypso and Jazz. She formed Utonga in 2010 and quickly released her debut album in that year – a ten track effort titled UTONGA. This album catapulted her to being one of Zimbabwe’s most recognized musicians to feature at some of the country top live venues. \nEdith has performed at all of Zimbabwe’s top Festivals and headlines most of them including INTWASA Festival koBulawayo\, Women in Jazz\, Harvest Festival and Harare International Festival of the Arts (HIFA)\, where she has collaborated there with African legends\, the likes of the late Oliver Mtukudzi\, Ismael Lo and international acts like Publish the Quest. \nShe has twice been nominated for Best Female Musician at Zimbabwe’s premier Awards National Arts Merit Awards\, as well as the Zimbabwe Music Awards. In 2018 she was won the Best Alternative Act at the Bulawayo Arts Awards (BAA’s). \nInternationally\, Edith has had performances in India\, Norway\, South Africa\, Kenya\, Uganda\, Tanzania\, Zanzibar and the DRC. \nSupporting Edith is Ajay Srivistav. \nAjay Srivastav is a critically acclaimed roots musician\, who reflects the life and lessons learnt as a British born artist of Indian heritage\, with uplifting songs of protest and change. \nHis unique slide guitar style is layered with inflections of sitar and sarod. This ability to merge scales\, and techniques from classical Indian music with slide guitar playing\, are down to his continual search for commonality where there is difference. \nA seasoned musician and performer\, Ajay has played guitar in the studio and on stage with diverse range of artists including Gregory Isaacs\, DJ Ritu\, Jah Wobble and Zakir Hussain. Then\, whilst visiting his ancestral home in the ancient city of Varanasi\, he took the time out to draw on his experiences and influences to develop his own musical vison. \nHis albums ‘Karmic Blues’ and ‘Powerless’ are the perfect antidote to the polarised times we live in\, exploring issues of division\, identity\, mental health\, inequality and faith. Often asking big questions and offering searing insights grounded in peace\, positivity and redemption. Listen in\, you’ll hear a lifetime between those notes. \nBUY TICKETS

SUMMARY:Family Ceilidh with The Tonic (Caller Ollie Simons)
DESCRIPTION:The Tonic is Julie Atkin on piano\, Ollie Woods on percussion\, Gavin Atkin on fiddle and Malcolm Woods on Melodeon. Formed fourteen years ago\, we have a mutual love of English song and dance music. We have all been actively involved in the English folk scene for many years as dancers\, singers and musicians and this has enabled us to put together a large and rich repertoire of  tunes and songs. As a band\, we have appeared at a number of festivals  including Sidmouth in 2024\, the now lamented Tenterden Folk Festival and of course Broadstairs Folk Festival. We’re really looking forward to being back again and meeting friends old and new. \nOllie Simons is one of the most charismatic and in-demand young callers currently on the scene. His seemingly boundless energy also sees him as a member of more Morris dance teams than we would think possible at once! Ollie’s calling is infectious\, you can’t help but dance with a grin on your face. \n \nBUY TICKETS
