Folk Week Update Sept 2020

A lot has happened…. or not happened…since our last news update in March 2020.

First of all, we do hope you are safe and well.  Like thousands of arts organisations around the world, the 2020 Broadstairs Folk Week was affected by Covid-19 and was cancelled.

The most urgent challenge is still keeping Folk Week afloat and in a healthy enough position to look forward to a 2021 festival.

Thank you so much to the very many ticket holders who asked us to hold their ticket money and roll their tickets over to next year’s festival and the large number of craft fair traders who allowed us to hold their deposits (and places) for 2021. Also, our amazing supporters and friends who have donated money and taken part in, or helped organise, fundraising activities.

Folk Week was also successful in an application to the Emergency Response Fund from Arts Council England, via the National Lottery. So, a huge thank you to them too.

Now we are looking to the future, but without the aid of a crystal ball. We have a lot more fundraising to do and we hope you will take a look at all the different options that you can help us – on this website – or go to www.broadstairsfolkweekfundraising.co.uk We need your help.

The Folk Week team are also looking at different options for a safe 2021 festival for all of us and as soon as we have some positive news, we will let you know.

In the meantime, stay safe and we hope to bring you music, song and dance in the festival you love in 2021.

The Folk Week Team
