Folk Week has plenty of fun stuff – for all ages. Some for all the family to join in with, like the ever-popular family lunchtime ceilidh at the Pavilion on the Sands – or there are events for different age groups – many of these take place Baptist Centre which has its own lovely café – so a chance to have a cup of tea while the young’uns have fun. Usually you can pay on the door for these events – or in advance. Of course, they are included in your all-in Festival Tickets too.
We like to get people dancing, singing and playing – and the younger the better. Many of the family events are completely free – most famously of course is the Hobby Horse Club at the Bandstand which welcomes all generations to singalong, dancealong and meet the Hooden Horses and feed Clarence the Folk Week Dragon.
In 2020, Folk Week invite you to create a Band in a Weekend with James Kerry and Dan Tonks from the Hill Top Ceilidh Band. If you’re aged between 10 and 18, bring along the instrument you play and by the end of Sunday – you’ll be performing on the Bandstand!
On the Festival Campsite, the Creative Tent invites children to make lots of exciting things for the Parade on Saturday 8th August and then during the rest of the week, be prepared for the themes at the Hobby Horse Club with Inspirations Creative.
Full details are in the Souvenir Programme which you can order by clicking the button at the top of the page. Available from June 2020.
