Motley Morris

Motley Morris are a Border Morris side formed in 1981 when several members of a local Cotswold Morris team decided to dance a different style on an occasional basis. The resulting side was named Dartford Motley, after the town when the team held its practices. The side developed its own identity over a short period of time with its distinctive coloured tatter jackets, and renamed themselves Motley Morris, as one definition of the word Motley means a combination of different colours, which was felt appropriate to our style of dancing.
