For more than 60 years, Broadstairs Folk Week has brought people together through music, dance, song and shared experience.
For one extraordinary week each summer, Broadstairs becomes a living stage. Streets, pubs, halls, gardens and seafront spaces fill with music; dancers take to the streets; songs are shared; friendships are made.
Broadstairs Folk Week is a charity. Everything we raise is reinvested in the festival: helping people of all ages experience live folk music and dance, supporting artists and performers, and creating opportunities to learn, join in and belong.
Folk Week has continued because each generation has passed it on to the next. Free events such as Hobby Horse Club give children and families a playful first encounter with live music and folk traditions. Busk Stop gives performers the chance to book a slot, share their music and find an audience. Across the festival, we value artists’ skill, time and creativity by paying professional musicians, dancers, workshop leaders and performers fairly.
