Pub gigs in Broadstairs Folk Week are hugely popular. Apart from the obvious attraction that they are free to festival goers, many people who come to the town relish the opportunities to see bands from all over the country – and beyond – performing a lot of their own original material and featuring a huge range of styles.

There are playalong sessions in the George with Paul Lucas and singalong sessions in the Neptune with Pete Collins and Mike Nicholson too – just pitch up and join in.
Folk Week likes to spread the word on new and upcoming acts – and it really does happen that a musician’s first appearance can be at a free pub gig – and in future years can be found performing on the main stage.
Whatever happens, all musicians make a huge contribution to the festival whatever platform they appear on – and we look forward to welcoming old friends, new discoveries and having a very, very good time in 2020. Watch this space!
