In this beginner-friendly workshop Alison will guide you through simple steps and figures that fit together in satisfying (and sometimes brain-teasing!) patterns. If you love the energy of a ceilidh but want more movement and flow, Contra could be your new favourite dance! No experience or partner required.
Known for delivering calm and clear instructions with patience and humour, Alison Rowley enjoys choosing dances that are interesting and fun for dancers of all skill levels.
Vicki Swan and Jonny Dyer are two of the most versatile musicians on the dance circuit today. Vicki studied at the Royal College of Music on the double bass, and now plays various types of bagpipes, flute and nyckelharpa. Jonny was classically trained as a pianist and trumpet player, and now specialises in traditional music from the British Isles and Scandinavia; primarily on harpsichord, piano, bouzouki and cowhorn(!). Their music is both hauntingly beautiful and irresistibly danceable.
